Contradictions all around...

Car parked on the curbside

Out steps a shiny black stiletto

Perfectly manicured hands, that deep shade of red

An air of business, somewhere about her hair!

Snapped her fingers, beckon yet another

Eager, running, dressed in his only best

The hotel bellhop.

His cheery best, fishing for an extra two

Mask he donned, worry lines concealed

Oh high, oh-so-mighty eloquence now

Smoking in a corner the next.

Slow, unsteady trot,

Careful step after another

The wandering, homeless soul.

Unsure of balance, a pity dime in hope

Stared up, up at the sky

Seeming deep thought, all that had gone by…

Back to focus by a Barking dog.

Hand in hand as though congenital

Left foot, right food in a rhythm

The two, seemingly new in love

Not much said, a lot spoken by touch

Maybe troubled, yet hope filled

Every step a seeming reminisce;

Every step a stride forward.

Slowly, but surely

Away from the bellhop, away from the wandering soul

Away, yet another possible past.

…and just like that, a fall back in time into today

Amid those clouds was that rainbow
Fog cleared and vision made way
Mountains once hazy, now set in stone
Water once unsettled now crystal clear

Days roll, seasons advance
A bout of doubt here
Knocked out; not too long
Rain falls down on me
Break down my fears and wash it down
Sink it down deep
Deep into mother Earth

Days still roll
Streak of light in the gray
A good day here and a good day there
I ask of the waves to wash away
Wash away all that is not me
While I stare long and far
Infinite horizon not too far
Water cold cradling the Sun
warms my feet as I stand there with you

Moments surreal, they add
We cross the bridge, now on the other side
water below once seemingly rough
now calming, I wade in
Then one step behind; now alongside
Serene, revive what was
a subtle smile it brought, a feeling so beautiful
It was the love I had for you.

P.S.: Ending with a smile on my face that few things can bring :)
